The Thompson Regional Hospital District was given a more precise picture of when the province expects to open its planned Kamloops cancer centre at Royal Inland Hospital. In an update to the board on Thursday, Todd Mastel, IH executive director of business operations, said the cancer centre’s target completion date is currently December 2028.

The Ministry of Health says it will spend a year evaluating two submissions it received after issuing a request for proposals for the $359-million cancer centre project at Royal Inland Hospital, with the goal of starting construction next year.
